Important Information and Dates for the 2011 Season
Season: May 31, 2011 – August 6, 2011
Practices:
The first practice for the Express will be on Tuesday, May 31, with practice for 10 and under swimmers from 6:30-7:30pm and practice for 11 and older swimmers from 7:30-8:30pm. Practices will run on this schedule through the end of the Stafford County school year (June 17) on Monday-Thursday evenings. Beginning on June 20, the team will shift to morning practices with 11 and older swimmers from 9-10am and 10 and under swimmers from 10-11am. As a reminder, in accordance with pool rules, all swimmers age 11 and under must have an adult accompany them to practice and remain on deck for the duration of practice.
Meets:
Our swim season consists of one exhibition meet, five Dual Meets, and the Divisional Championship Meet (Finals). The meets are held on Wednesday with warm-ups starting around 4:30pm for home meets and 5pm for away meets and the meet starting at 6pm. Most meets will end around 10:30pm +/- 30 mins. The majority of the 8 & under kids will be finished midway through the meet. The age of each swimmer as of June 1st determines the age group in which your child will swim throughout the season.
The Dual Meet schedule is listed below. RSL “Finals” are limited to swimmers who have competed in at least two dual meets and received a legal time in at least one individual event during the current season. All teams in our division will compete at this meet for a “Division Championship” title.
Mock Meet. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Mock Meet as it is run very much like a real meet. Swimmers will learn about reporting to the Clerk of Course and some basic meet rules. Parents will learn some of the jobs required to run the meet and receive a better understanding of how an actual meet will work. In addition, this meet will let our coaches gather times for the swimmers for our first dual meet.
